Headaches During Pregnancy, are They Normal?

Hannah Bajor.C.N.M.,M.S.N. Pregnancy Success & Health Coach asked:
Headaches during pregnancy are very challenging as over the counter pain killers are not recommended. Read on to see what you can do to relieve the pain from your headaches during pregnancy.

First of all let’s address why some pregnant women suffer from headaches during pregnancy. Within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy the surging hormones play a part in the development of pregnancy headaches. The 40% increase in blood volume that occurs during pregnancy increases pressure within the blood vessels and this itself can cause pregnancy headaches. Headaches during the last month of pregnancy may also be caused by a condition called preeclampsia, which is associated with high blood pressure, swelling and protein in the urine.

It is normal to have headaches during pregnancy because of the above reasons plus the following:

Stress

Lack of sleep

Vomiting

Low blood sugar

Dehydration

Caffeine withdrawal

Nicotine withdrawal

Poor posture

Pregnancy related vision changes

What you can do to ease your pregnancy headaches:

Reduce stress.

Get more sleep.

Treat your early morning sickness.

Eat regularly to avoid low blood sugar levels.

Drink adequate amounts of high quality water.

Get chiropractic adjustments and advice to correct your posture.

Avoid over the counter medication especially during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Consult a homeopath or an acupuncturist for treatments to relieve your pain.

Pregnancy headaches are sometimes relieved with either hot or cold compress around your forehead and on the back of your neck.

Have someone massage your shoulders and neck during acute pregnancy headaches.

Rest in a dark room and practice deep relaxation breathing.

Relaxing in a warm bath or shower sometimes reduces the stress and tension.

The fruit mangosteen is well known to support every system in the body. It is all natural and can relieve and prevent pregnancy headaches.

You tried all the above and you still have a pregnancy headache:

At this point it would be appropriate to call your doctor or midwife for advice.

Have your eyesight checked as you may need glasses or a change in glasses.

If you experience any of these symptoms below with a headache call your physician or midwife immediately as these are signs of a severe pregnancy complication called pre-eclampsia:

Blurred vision

Right sided abdomen pain

Swollen hands and face

Sudden weight gain

Feeling very agitated or restless

Pregnancy headaches can be very painful and very frustrating, as it is not recommended that you use over the counter medication during pregnancy. I have assisted pregnant women in the past to make their headaches a little more manageable or made them go away with a one on one coaching-healing phone sessions.

Many of my pregnant clients have experienced improvement of their pregnancy headaches by taking mangosteen juice. Mangosteen is present in different quantities in different products. Custom Pregnancy Announcements & Pregnancy Cards

Sarah Porter asked:
All About Pregnancy Announcements Cards – Spread the Great News and Job!

Pregnancy announcements are a great way to reach all of the friends and relatives of a mother-to-be. They will appreciate hearing directly from the parents-to-be, rather than hearing word of mouth about a pregnancy. If possible, pregnancy cards should be sent before any baby shower invitations are sent. As a general rule, expecting parents should try to send personalized pregnancy announcements around the 10th or 12th weeks of pregnancy. After all, news of the pregnancy is bound to spread like wildfire, and the proud parents-to-be should try to tell as many people as possible directly! Read more About Pregnancy Announcements Cards.

The styles and trends in custom pregnancy cards are similar to birth announcements. Modern designs, cute images of baby items or a pregnant mom silhouette are all popular. Stork pregnancy announcements are also a charming option. If the pregnancy cards are sent after the parents know the gender of the baby, printable pregnancy announcements can be geared for a boy or girl as appropriate. If parents know the nursery room theme or colors, the pregnancy announcement can give the recipients a sneak peak of the nursery. This kind of personalization is great for the mother-to-be that has many out of town friends and relatives. The more the recipient feels they know about the new baby, the more special they feel.

By sending inexpensive pregnancy announcements, parents are also saving themselves some time when they get to the announcement of the baby. The name and address list for the pregnancy announcements should be virtually the same as the list for the printed birth announcements. Organization is key after the baby is born so already having a list of recipients from the pregnancy announcements can be sleep saving! Parents will also get out all of the kinks with the pregnancy announcements – they will know how many announcement cards they need to send, are guaranteed not to miss anyone important (they will find out who they missed quite quickly if they miss them with the pregnancy announcement!) and they will have a system down to stuff envelopes and address announcements quickly.

The joy of pregnancy should be shared with all of the family and friends. Printed pregnancy cards can be a way to show gratitude, keep in touch with distant loved ones and tell them a little bit about the family that is expecting the baby. Pregnancy announcements usually indicate the expected birth date, but if parents choose to only announce the month, season or major holiday around the expected date, that is also a nice option. If it is not the first child, pregnancy announcements can also be worded with the siblings-to-be announcing the expected baby. Often times the older siblings are very excited about their new baby sibling and feel extra special if their names are on the pregnancy announcement cards.

Whatever style pregnancy card is used, the important thing to remember is the joy and excitement of the new baby. Sharing that joy by a pregnancy announcement spreads the joy around! Some websites have lots of unique pregnancy announcements wording verses, wording ideas and sayings to get your cards just the way you want.

Vitamins For Your Baby

It seems that everyone has a different opinion when it comes to giving vitamins to your baby. This decision has to come down to you the parent. Some Dr's will say that your baby doesn't need vitamins, and others will say go ahead and give them a multi- vitamin, it depends on your doctor but for your babies safety you should definitely follow your Dr's advice.

When your baby is first born, your baby is healthy and doesn't need vitamins. Your baby is getting vitamins through breast milk or formula. It isn't until your baby quits breastfeeding or drinking formula that you may want to consider giving a vitamin supplement to your baby.

Once baby starts on solids it is more difficult to know that baby is eating a healthy diet. Baby may one day eat really good and the next take a couple bites of something and spit out all her vegetables. If my baby is anything like any of yours, he will eat the favorite food of the week and most of the time it is not the most nutritious thing for him to eat. But if you mothers are like me you are just thankful that he is eating something, anything! So if your baby is a fussy eater and you are not sure weather or not he is eating a healthy balanced diet, then I suggest a liquid multi-vitamin specifically designed for infants. You can find these sort of vitamins at your local health food store.

Stay away from gummy vitamins until at least the age of 3 or 4 . There are some things that your baby isn't allowed to have yet. Liquid infant multi-vitamins give dosage usually by weight which is good because then you know how much vitamins are safe for your baby. You never should give your baby adult vitamins as these contain a higher dosage of vitamins that is way to much for your babies body to handle. To much of anything can harm your body, with the exception of love.

Babies as well as adults do need some vitamins to stay healthy. Vitamin D for example. We get Vitamin D through the sun, so make sure your baby gets out at least 30 min a week. Of course in the winter time when there is frigid temperatures no one wants to go outside. That is why a vitamin supplement is so good. When looking for a vitamin supplement for your baby look at how much Vitamin D is in it. If the amount of Vitamin D exceeds 400 IU per day don't buy it. To much Vitamin D can be toxic to your baby.

Babies and Toddlers also need Iron and Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a great preventative vitamin, it boosts the immune system and is good to give when baby has a cold. They have vitamin C liquid drops for infants as well. Vitamin C can help the absorption of Iron so it has that benefit as well. Your multi-vitamin will have Vitamin C in it already so until baby is sick there is no need for extra Vitamin C.

Iron is essential for babies up to 18 months. An Iron deficiency can cause developmental as well as behavioral problems in infants. Although in some babies to much iron can be constipating, it is essential for there growth. There is iron enriched cereals and formulas for younger babies and iron will most likely be in your multi-vitmamin. You should always read the labels to make sure.

With our food and soil not being enriched with the vitamins and minerals it once had, I am all for giving my child vitamins. I feel good knowing that my son is getting all the things he needs to grow and thrive. Always cheek with your child's doctor before starting a vitamin regimen. I have noticed since I have started giving my son a multi- vitamin he hasn't been sick.

Tips to Prevent Your Pregnancy After Miscarriage

Hannah Bajor.C.N.M.,M.S.N. Pregnancy Success & Health Coach asked:

Pregnancy after miscarriage is a common concern for many women that had a miscarriage. Read on to see what you can do to create a more successful pregnancy after a miscarriage.

20 -25% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. No two pregnancies are alike. Each pregnancy is a unique experience for a woman and the incoming child so we cannot compare one pregnancy to another. The success rate of a pregnancy after a miscarriage can be increased with these following tips:

Be nutritionally healthier prior to and during pregnancy. From the moment of conception your unborn child needs to constantly multiply every cell in their body to grow every organ and structure to be normal. The most common cause of an early miscarriage is an abnormal baby resulting from a defective egg or *****. These issues are easily corrected to prevent a recurrent miscarriage. It is not good enough to just eat healthier as most of the food we eat lacks basic nutrition and minerals. But it is essential to take in a high quality supplement of vitamins and minerals that has a great absorption rate. A nutritionally healthy body will make your pregnancy after miscarriage stronger.

Keep your body constantly detoxified will also prevent miscarriages and make pregnancy after miscarriage easier. Many people are unaware that their bodies are in a constant toxic state unless they are taking antioxidants on a daily basis. Toxins can destroy healthy cells including the female egg, the male ***** and the growing fetus. Toxins comes from the following

Pesticides on the fruit and vegetables we eat unless they are organic.

Additives and preservatives in our foods.

Pollution in the air we breathe.

Chemicals in the water we drink.

From within our own bodies, for example every time we work out we generate free radicals that are toxic to our bodies.

Medication we take.

60% of all pregnancies are unplanned and when a pregnant woman has ambivalence about her pregnancy it increases the chances of a miscarriage. Therefore, if you want to have a successful pregnancy, immediately accept this baby.

Listen to your body. If your body is telling you to take it easy and not to have *********** during your pregnancy, then listen to your own inner guidance. Pregnancy is much more than a physical and emotional process. Pregnancy takes a tremendous amount of energy from the mother as so many things happen to the mother and the incoming baby all at the same time. Going against your inner guidance can off set a normal pregnancy.

Pregnancy after miscarriage comes with concerns that another miscarriage will happen. This is normal but may even cause another miscarriage. Regardless of your obstetrical history it is very important not to worry and have as little stress as possible. Be positive and bond with your baby. Let your baby know he or she is loved and wanted.

If you are having a hard time getting over the loss of your miscarried baby then maybe you might want to consider some energetic healing-coaching over the telephone with me. I have helped so many women turn the corner of miscarriage grief so their life is less saddened. Pregnancy Vitamins

As a responsible mother to be, you will be aware of the importance of pregnancy vitamins during pregnancy. While a well balanced diet, sourced from a wide range of wholesome healthy foods and containing the correct blend of minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins, fatty acids and folic acid, goes a long way to ensuring the health of your baby, most doctors will advise the expectant mother to also take prenatal vitamins. These supplements do not replace the healthy pregnancy diet, but rather ensure that the mother is receiving enough daily nutrients. Such supplements work best when taken as part of a healthy pregnancy diet.

The most important pregnancy vitamins are folic acid, iron, and calcium. Folic acid is essential for the healthy development of the baby's brain and neural tube, more commonly known as the spinal cord. Lack of folic acid can cause spina-bifida, which is simply where the spine has not closed. Excellent sources of folic acid are dark green leafy vegetables, nuts, beans, citrus fruits, and fortified cereals.

Iron helps the mothers and baby's blood carry oxygen, and prevents anaemia, low birth weight, and premature delivery. Often, mothers turn anaemic during the last few months of pregnancy as the baby draws his required reserves from the mother. Good sources of iron include meats such as pork and beef, dried fruits, wheat germ, and spinach.

Calcium is essential for the development of the babys teeth and bones, and again, the baby will draw his reserves from the mother is he isn't receiving it in his nutrients. This can lead to osteoporosis in the mother later in life. Excellent sources of calcium include yogurts, cheese, and milk.

Proteins are very important and aid the body in repairing cells, as well as promoting healthier breast and uterine tissue. Proteins can be sourced in sea foods, meats, poultry, and dairy products.

Vitamin A is also essential for the healthy development of the babys teeth and bones, and can be sourced in liver, milk, eggs, carrots, and potatoes. Care should be taken if eating liver as it's very high in vitamin A and too much vitamin A can also harm your baby.

Vitamin D helps your body to absorb cacium into the bones, and can be found in fish and milk.

Vitamin C supports the babys growth, and aids tissue repair and healing for the mother. It can be found in citrus fruits, strawberries, brussel sprouts, green beans, and tomatoes.

Vitamins B1 and B2 assist the mothers body in processing carbohydrates, fats, and protein. They also assist in maintaining her energy levels. They can be sourced in meats, poultry, fish, eggs, fortified cereals, nuts, and pasta.

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for the development of your babys brain, nerve, and eye tissue. These nutrients can be sourced from foods such as salmon, trout, and other cold water fish, as well as dairy products. Other essential elements include vitamin B5 which regulates the body's adrenal activity and anti-body production. Vitamin B12 helps maintain your baby's nerve functions, while vitamin B6 is vital for your foetus's brain development.
